Mothers Day wishes

Hello Everyone!!!!

I am finally back in the world of blogland!!!!

Well, after our lightening strike, we had total and utter chaos!!!!  The internet worked intermittently and each time I created a post, I'd get half way and the internet would go down, which resulted in a lot of frustration and cursing on my part as I lost lots of work!!!

Anyway, I am pleased to say that we updated a few bits and pieces and during the update, the engineers discovered that our line was faulty to the extent they were mystified as to how the telephone and internet were even working!!!  But..... it has all been fixed and everything is back to normal! Yaaay!!

Well, where to start!!!  Firstly, I hope that everyone that was celebrating Mothers Day yesterday had an amazing day!!  It's pretty weird, as we celebrate Mothers day in March here and when my late Mother was alive, I always had to remember that in Africa Mothers Day is in May!!!  Luckily, it is easily remembered as it usually falls around the same time as my birthday!!!

Anyway....  I was truly spoilt by my gorgeous girls!!!  They got me the biggest basket of flowers plants....

It is truly amazing!!!  And...... they also got me a double stemmed orchid!!

I only took this close up, as it is the only bud open.  the others are all still closed, so as they start to flower, I will take more photos.

And to top it off M and the girls cooked a roast dinner with all the trimmings!!!  It was amazing and I feel lucky and blessed to have such a wonderful and thoughtful family.

Well, I must close for now, but keep an eye out for lots of updates!!!

Flowers

Welcome Back!

Well, with everything that went on last week, I did not get much time to be very creative, but I did manage to make these little flowers, which were super easy and quick to make!

I had a lot of fun making them, I just have to put them to good use....... which, I do have a plan for!

I will have to challenge myself to try a bit of pattern writing, so that I can share some of these bits with you all.......... so........ watch this space!

Well, I have been busy beavering away with them....

First came the flowers.......

Which then became squares.....

I love the way the colours look together....

I had decided to make a cushion cover...... for those neglected cushions from this post.... (One of five!)

I had enough for the front....... now... what about the back?

I was torn between a knitted back or a crochet back, 

but decided a crochet back....

I was making it for my studio, but have been forbidden from taking it there..... phhhttt!

Peanut and Bean have both asked if I could make them one each........  ermmmmm, it may take a while, as I'm still busy with these!

Never mind, I'll add them to my WIP and to do lists!

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.... I know I will as it is my Birthday today! (Yaaaaaay!) and apart from two very important people (My Mum, who is sadly no longer with us - although she is in my heart and thoughts daily, and my Dad who lives in Africa), all my family is coming up for the weekend!!!  I can't wait as I haven't seen them in two and a half years and I am slightly delirious!

A flower for you.

Welcome Back!!


You'll be pleased to know that I have finally finished Year End!!!


So to celebrate I made this little card for you all to feat your eyes upon ......

It is part of a set that came as a freebie with crossstitcher Magazine, but as I felt like I have not been able to do anything creatively for ages, I thought I'd stitch something quick, and this just seemed to fit with my requirements and time!!

I just love the simplicity of it!

Flowers, flowers, lots of flowers.

Welcome back!


You may remember from this post that whilst I was unable to do much creatively, I decided to test my photography skills and take some pictures of various plants and flowers around the garden........


Here are a selection of some of the flowers I took .........

I really do love it when flowers start to blossom, as I know spring is well and truly here...... although judging from the awful weather we have been having here in the northern hemisphere it is difficult to believe!!!

It's a good thing that some of these beauties are in a greenhouse!!!

Experimentation

Hi.........

Because I was soooooo tied up last week, and I knew I wouldn't be able to concentrate on my usual projects, I decided to do some experimentation......

With flowers, twists and a dragonfly........

Now I know the picture is not that great, but that was due to there being toooooooo much light!  It has been very difficult these last few weeks to get decent light for photographing my creations..... it's either too bright or too dull!!

But as these are trial pieces, I knew you would all forgive me.  What do you think?

I also managed to do some paper cutting and some knitting in front of the TV, but more on those in separate posts!

I don't know about you, but I'm quite smitten with the dragonfly!  I will have to make some more and may even try writing out a pattern to share with you.

I will of course have to do some research into this pattern writing malarkey, as I have never written one before, and I have got into a bad habit of slipping into US and UK terminology as per pattern instructions that I have followed, and I don't get confused, as I just know what they are asking me to do...... so it may take some time.....

An Update

Well Hellooooooo!!

I'm amazed at how quickly time is going...... it's been an age since I last posted anything!!!

Well the reason for my absence last week was because we had half term in my neck of the woods, and I had amazing things planned with Bean and Peanut........ but alas.... they didn't happen!

The reason being that Bean fell poorly with Gastro and Peanut fell poorly with an ear infection :-(.  I was not well either, I have been getting a cold every other week since January, and then two weeks ago I got a chest infection, and I'm still not fully recovered, but my poor munchkins were ill, so I had to stop feeling sorry for myself and nurse them back to full strength, which meant lots of warm drinks, chicken soup and snuggles (our family slang for cuddling and kisses) and administering antibiotics for Peanut and warm water, plain bland food and snuggles for Bean!

Thankfully, they have both fully recovered, sadly just in time to go back to school :-(

During all this it was valentines day and I was given an amazing bunch of flowers.......

.....aren't they just gorgeous???? 

I did manage a teensy weeny bit of creativity, which I will post separately.

How did everyone else enjoy their week? Did you all get a valentine? I certainly hope so........
