Busy, Busy, Busy.

Well, it has been an extremely busy and tiring week this week, as I have had month end to contend with and Peanut has been very poorly again, this time with a throat infection.  She is on antibiotics, which finally seem to be doing the trick, but I really do not like it when either of my munchkins are ill.... it disrupts my entire world, and I can not concentrate properly on anything either than their well being and ensuring there are lots of kisses and snuggles available as and when required.

I'm lucky that I work from home, so I can pick up month end when my Munchkins' are sleeping and settled, but it has meant that I have been doing all sorts of hours and am feeling quite tired myself, which has not left much time to create, although I have done this bit of doodling in between calls and work.......

I do think they are kind of cute and want to do something with them, but I'm not quite sure what, yet.

On the knitting front, not much has happened.... although I have completed two more squares, I just have not had time to photograph them to show you, but I will do soon.

Well, I must dash, Bean is calling ........

Knit, knit, knitty knit!

Yaaaaaaaay!!!!

Who knew that hand knitting would become this addictive??????

Well, I have been doing my hand knitting in the evening whilst watching TV.... or is that concentrating on my knitting whilst the TV makes a noise in the background????  Hehehehehehe........

Do you remember this post?????

Well I've now completed ten squares and started number eleven...... do you want to see???

Here goes...........

I love the colours and the fact that the main stitches that I have used so far are knit and purl!!!!  I'd never really though of using them like I have..... but then ...... my hand knitting adventures have only ever led to garter stitch and stocking stitch and even then,  have been VERY limited, in both time and patience!!!

This project has become VERY ADDICTIVE!!!!  My hubby thinks I'm becoming a tad bit obsessed.... Shhhhhhh....... don't let on that I am ;-) ..........

..... I've got to go........ my knitting's calling.......... :-)

Experimentation

Hi.........

Because I was soooooo tied up last week, and I knew I wouldn't be able to concentrate on my usual projects, I decided to do some experimentation......

With flowers, twists and a dragonfly........

Now I know the picture is not that great, but that was due to there being toooooooo much light!  It has been very difficult these last few weeks to get decent light for photographing my creations..... it's either too bright or too dull!!

But as these are trial pieces, I knew you would all forgive me.  What do you think?

I also managed to do some paper cutting and some knitting in front of the TV, but more on those in separate posts!

I don't know about you, but I'm quite smitten with the dragonfly!  I will have to make some more and may even try writing out a pattern to share with you.

I will of course have to do some research into this pattern writing malarkey, as I have never written one before, and I have got into a bad habit of slipping into US and UK terminology as per pattern instructions that I have followed, and I don't get confused, as I just know what they are asking me to do...... so it may take some time.....

Until next time.............. keep creating!!

Valentine Creativity

Helloooooooo and welcome back.................

Do you remember in my previous post I told you that I had managed to do a teensy weeny bit of creativity?

Well here it is......

I hooked up some hearts.....

Here's a closer look .............

I didn't make them for a project.... I only made them to give to my family on valentines day, so that at least they received a valentines heart on valentines day....... yes, I am a little bit of a romantic!

The green one was the tester, to make sure that it all worked out, then I made a total of five in the multi-coloured pink wool.

The recipients were very happy with their hearts.... and that made me extremely happy too!

I hope you all had a lovely valentines day.

An Update

Well Hellooooooo!!

I'm amazed at how quickly time is going...... it's been an age since I last posted anything!!!

Well the reason for my absence last week was because we had half term in my neck of the woods, and I had amazing things planned with Bean and Peanut........ but alas.... they didn't happen!

The reason being that Bean fell poorly with Gastro and Peanut fell poorly with an ear infection :-(.  I was not well either, I have been getting a cold every other week since January, and then two weeks ago I got a chest infection, and I'm still not fully recovered, but my poor munchkins were ill, so I had to stop feeling sorry for myself and nurse them back to full strength, which meant lots of warm drinks, chicken soup and snuggles (our family slang for cuddling and kisses) and administering antibiotics for Peanut and warm water, plain bland food and snuggles for Bean!

Thankfully, they have both fully recovered, sadly just in time to go back to school :-(

During all this it was valentines day and I was given an amazing bunch of flowers.......

.....aren't they just gorgeous????

I did manage a teensy weeny bit of creativity, which I will post separately.

How did everyone else enjoy their week? Did you all get a valentine? I certainly hope so........

Until next time...

Stitchy Time!

Helloooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Well I am totally and utterly excited!!! (Squeals with delight!) and I couldn't wait to share my excitement with some-one!

The reason for this excitement is this.......

I have had an idea for quite some time now.....  It all started when I was introduced to Folk Art designs, and for a looooooooonnnnnnnngggggggg time, I have been sketching and moving and sketching some more until I came up with this......

Now, I've had these two sketches, along with a few others, sitting around for an absolute age, calling out to me to do something with them, and I couldn't decide what to do.......... and then it hit me....... I felt a need to stitch!!  The last time I did any form of hand stitching (apart from cross stitching, which I have not had a lot of time to do!) was when I was Eleven (11)!!!   That is a pretty long time ago, but I didn't let it phase me, I just went ahead and used some felt in places and started stitching...... I fell in love all over again with the calm and soothing pace of stitching and this is what it looks like so far.....

Size wise, it is just slightly smaller than an A4 sheet of paper, and this one is almost complete, I am still busy decorating the house.  I also have one on the go that is going to be completely hand stitched, with not a piece of felt in sight!

I have to say...... I  totally LOVE this piece to bits!  I think it's more to do with the fact that I have pondered over the design for so long, and now I can see it all coming together.... Yaaaaayyyy!!

As soon as it is completed, I will show it to you. Promise!

Have a Fab time....... until next time......

Some Hand knitting!

Hello Everyone, I hope you have all been having a really good week.

It has been extremely cold up in this part of the northern hemisphere, and we had more snow, followed by icy rain, so walking has become extremely hazardous and everything is covered with a layer of ice, but there are things that look quite pretty.....

I have been really busy re-decorating another house during the day, so have not had very much time to be creative, although I have managed to do a bit of hand knitting in the evenings ......

It has been extremely therapeutic, especially after a hard day of stripping wallpaper and painting.

If you have been following me for a while, you will know that I do not really like hand knitting...... I just find it very hard work, and my skills with hand knitted items are rather limited!! (Give me a knitting machine, and that's a whole different story!!!)  But..... my gorgeous family gave me a subscription to the Art of Knitting, which walks you through different stitches and techniques in the form of a square, so by the end, you produce a lovely blanket/afghan and have gained new skills.... so.... as I progress, I will show you a little of what I've done, right up to the end! Be warned.... this may take some time ;-)).

Well, I need to go and get some of my own chores done, before I can sneak in some creativity time, so I hope you all have a really wonderful week.

Hmmmmmmmm!

I just thought I would drop by and ramble on about the odd week I have had.......

We have had snow most of the week.... but it's not the nice fluffy, squishy kind, that you can have snowball fights in and make snowmen with....... it's the crunchy, icy, horrible stuff, which makes you slip and fall all over the place....... Grrrrrrrr......

This picture was taken from our lounge

This picture was taken from my husbands home office.

Now, I will agree that it looks all lovely and picturesque, but....... it is nasty stuff!!  My poor chickens are refusing to come out of their coop..... and I'm sure they must be shivering!!  I've even thought of knitting them a jumper and some socks!!!  :-) Can you picture it??

I also received some bad news, but it was good if that makes any sense....  It was bad in the way that it was not what I was hoping for, but good in the way that the door has now been closed on that chapter and I can concentrate on the new door that has been sitting waiting to be opened.

I have been working on a new project and I hope to be able to share it with you all soon!  Thank you for being there quietly letting me ramble on, I really do appreciate it. x

Until next time....

Ta Dah!

Good Morning Everyone!!!

I am terribly pleased with myself, as I have managed to finish my Japanese Flower Scarf!!  I am utterly and totally happy with it, but I must say that it became addictive......... and I want to make more of these gorgeous flowers!!!!

I just need to think about colours and what I want to make next......... hmmmmmmm...........

Anyway here are a couple of picture's of my completed scarf....... It does still look a bit messy, as I still need to block it.

I will of course show it to you once I have blocked it, because as many of you know, things just lay more orderly when they are blocked and they do look finished!

o-o-o-o-o-o-o

I have also been making a bit of progress with my African Flowers which I previously blogged about here ........

I am finding these very slow, not because they are difficult...... no ..... in actual fact they are very easy to make!! But because I am using really fine yarn and a 3mm crochet hook, so my hexagons are a lot smaller and all the ones pictures above would only just cover a small cushion!!  But I will persevere, as I have promised to make both bean and peanut something for their new bedrooms.

The next challenge I will face with this particular project, will be how to lay it all out...... but that will all come together properly in the end, as I do have a couple of rough ideas sketched and noted down, but as I've been making more of these, I keep changing my mind......

Well, I have a number of things that have been rushing around my head and I need to get them down into some form of sketch or note....... so until next time...... have a creative time!!
